LONDON (VIP NEWS) — Glastonbury boss Michael Eavis has described the death of Christopher Shale on the site in the early hours of Sunday morning (June 26) as a "suicide situation".

Shale, who was chairman of West Oxfordshire Conservative Association, the constituency of Prime Minister David Cameron, was found dead in a portable toilet in the VIP backstage area of Glastonbury at around 9am (BST).

Speaking at an official Glastonbury press conference, Eavis said of Shale's death: "I'm told it was a suicide situation in the early hours of this morning. It was in the Winnebago area. It's very, very sad. I can't say too much about it."

No official verdict on the cause of death has been released yet.

Police have also confirmed that several of Shale's close relatives were staying on site and were being comforted after receiving the news. The 56-year-old had made the news in another incident this morning, after he was quoted in the Mail On Sunday as saying, "There's no reason to join the Conservative Party."

Yesterday was the final day of this year’s Glastonbury festival with Beyonce as the final headliner.
