Peter Capaldi is a Scottish actor, writer, and director. He is known for playing Dr. Who.

Peter is the son of Nancy and Gerald Capaldi. He is married to actress and writer Elaine Collins, with whom he has a daughter.

He is a first cousin, twice removed, of singer and songwriter Lewis Capaldi. He is also a distant relative of nuclear physicist Joseph Capaldi and singer and drummer Jim Capaldi. Peter appeared in the music video for Lewis’ single “Someone You Loved.”

Peter’s paternal grandfather was Giovanni Battista/Batiste Capaldi (the son of Sabato/Sabatino Capaldi and Nicolina “Nelly” Faccenda). Giovanni was born in Picinisco, Province of Frosinone, Lazio, Italy. Sabatino was the son of Giuseppi Filippo Capaldi and Maria Boni. Nicolina was the daughter of Giovanni Faccenda and Maria Costanza Pelosi.

Peter’s paternal grandmother was Agnes/Agnese Dougan (the daughter of Peter Dougan and Isabella Geddes Flett). Agnes was born in Glasgow, Scotland. Peter’s great-grandfather Peter Dougan was the son of Neil Dougan and Isabella.
