Larry Elder is an American conservative talk radio host, political commentator, author, politician, and attorney. He has hosted The Larry Elder Show on radio since the 1990s, which has been broadcast nationally, with a few gap years. He has written non-fiction books and a nationally syndicated column.
He was a candidate for the Republican Party’s nomination for President of the United States in 2024.
Larry is the son of Viola (Conley), a clerical worker for the U.S. Department of War, and Randolph Elder, a sergent in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII. His father later worked as a janitor and opened a café. His father was from Athens, Georgia. His mother was from Toney, Alabama. Larry was raised in Los Angeles’ Pico-Union and South Central areas. He and his brother Kirk accepted a Congressional Gold Medal on their father’s behalf in 2013.
Larry’s paternal grandfather was named William/Willie S. Elder (the son of Mose Elder and Winnie). William was born in Georgia.
