Gary C. Mitchell, Trevizo’s attorney, has asserted that his client should not be charged with murder, citing her lack of criminal history. 

He claims that there are significant discrepancies surrounding what transpired at the hospital, suggesting that this case does not fit the profile of a classic child abuse scenario.
